The Inspector General
Michelle L. Anderson is the SSA OIG’s Acting Inspector General.
In that capacity, Ms. Anderson oversees a nationwide workforce of nearly 500 criminal investigators, auditors, information technology specialists, attorneys, program analysts, budget and management analysts, human resources specialists, and public affairs specialists. Under her direction, the SSA OIG is charged with conducting and supervising audits and investigations relating to the programs and operations of SSA. SSA OIG’s work promotes economy, efficiency, and effectiveness, and prevents and detects fraud, waste, and abuse in those programs and operations. SSA OIG keeps the Social Security Commissioner and Congress fully and currently informed about problems and deficiencies relating to the administration of such programs and operations and the necessity for and progress of corrective action.
